Getting Started
Not at all. Shwink is built for any photographer or videographer who works on their feet. Wedding shooters, portrait sessions, sport on the sidelines, brand and editorial, festivals, you name it. If your shoot day involves moving, handling gear, or pushing through long hours, Shwink turns that effort into something you can see and share.
No. Shwink isn't a fitness app pretending to be for photographers. It's a way to see the physical side of your craft you've been ignoring for years. Whether you walk 5,000 steps in a studio session or 25,000 at a 12-hour wedding, Shwink shows what your body actually did at work.
Nope. Your phone is enough. As long as you have it on you during the shoot, Shwink reads your steps, distance, and active hours from Apple Health or Google Fit. If you do wear a watch, Shwink picks up the more detailed data automatically, including heart rate.
Yes. There's a free version with everything you need to track shoots, generate Shwink Cards, and join the community. We also offer an optional monthly subscription for photographers who want extra features and deeper stats.
Other Shwink users, only if you share. Your profile lives inside the Shwink community the same way a profile lives on Instagram or Strava. Photographers can follow you and wink on shoots you post, but anything you don't post stays private to you.
No. Shwink is a closed community for photographers. Clients, friends, and family don't see anything unless you choose to share a Shwink Card to your own social media.
Yes, any time. From your profile settings you can delete your account, which removes your shoots, cards, comments, and personal info from Shwink for good.
Tracking & Health
No. Shwink reads your steps, distance, and heart rate from Apple Health or Google Fit after the fact. It does not run GPS, does not keep sensors open, and does not live in the background eating power. Your battery lasts as long as it would without Shwink installed.
iPhone 8 or newer on iOS 16 and up, and any modern Android device on Android 9 and up. On iOS you need Apple Health enabled. On Android you need Google Fit. The install is around 80MB.
You can backfill. Because Shwink reads from the health platform, you can open the app after a shoot, pick the time range, and pull the stats into a card. Pre-loaded shoots also send you a morning-of reminder so you rarely forget in the first place.
Yes. Shwink isn't only about steps. A long studio day still has heart rate, hours on your feet, and the focus you put in. Your Shwink Card celebrates whatever your body actually did, whether that's 22,000 steps at a wedding or four hours of intense work in a 30 square metre studio.
Sharing & Shwink Cards
A wink is Shwink's version of a like. When another photographer winks on your shoot, it means "I see you, I respect the work." It's a small nod between people who actually understand what shoot days take.
You can absolutely keep it private. Plenty of photographers use Shwink as a personal log of their year, their best shoots, and their milestones. Sharing to the community feed or to your own social media is optional, never required.
